ABSTRACT

The communication and biomedical industry have been in continuous growth in the last few years. Wearable compact antennas are a major part of every wearable communication and biomedical system. Compact efficient wideband antennas affect significantly the electrical performance of wearable communication and biomedical systems. This chapter presents design considerations, computational results and measured results on the human body of several compact wideband microstrip antennas with high efficiency. Microstrip antennas are widely employed in communication systems and seekers. They possess attractive features that are crucial to communication and medical systems. A compact microstrip loaded dipole antennas has been designed. The antenna consists of two layers. The first layer consists of FR4 0.25 mm dielectric substrate. The second layer consists of Kapton 0.25 mm dielectric substrate. The chapter presents wideband microstrip antennas with high efficiency for medical applications. It also presents wideband compact printed antennas and microstrip and loop antennas for RFID applications.
