ABSTRACT

The development of real-time Wireless highway addressable remote transducer (HART) hardware-in-the-loop simulator (WH-HILS) plays an important role in providing a sufficient realtime framework for validation of the proposed filter design approach. The simulator can be used for assessing not only control performance of various wireless plants, but also for their communications quality. The developed dual purpose exponentially weighted moving average filter and WirelessHART hybrid simulator WH-HILS has wide applications, especially for use in industrial process plants. By extending configurations for WH-HILS to simulate single-input-single-output systems, it is possible to simulate both single multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) systems and multiple MIMO systems using one computer, two computers or more. With MIMO simulation, the foreseen key challenges will be the efficient scheduling mechanism for transferring data between the gateway and the wireless nodes. The chapter also presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book.
