ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces basic elements to include on any Web page. It identifies six different types of Web pages and discusses the need to include additional elements on each of these types of pages. These web pages are advocacy, business, informational, news, personal, and entertainment. The chapter discusses the key Web page elements and provides illustrations of how they are incorporated into actual Web pages. These elements are the following: authority, accuracy, objectivity, currency, coverage and intended audience. Interaction and transaction features are an additional category of basic elements important to include on any type of Web page. Interaction and transaction features are tools that enable a user to interact with the person or organization responsible for a website or enter into a transaction via a website. The chapter describes basic elements there are two more features that need to be considered in the evaluation and creation of Web pages: navigational aids and nontext features.
