ABSTRACT

The brain can be stimulated and maintained throughout life. Cultivating the brain goes beyond cultivating scientific ability and encompasses various areas including verbal, artistic, athletic, and contemplative abilities. Animals can be trained to do complex tasks, but there is no evidence that they can think in complex manners or that they can cultivate their own brain capability like humans. The ability to cultivate the brain goes beyond the simple ability to think and is a special gift possibly reserved for humans. The brain is a plastic entity in the sense that it is malleable, that is, it can change according to an external stimulus and self-motivated learning and practice. The plasticity of the brain is revealed not only in behavioral changes but also physically in anatomical changes in the brain. Studies on the human brain show that different functions are located in different parts of the brain.
