ABSTRACT

Transitioning an organization’s management system to an OEMS requires consideration for the following two implementation models: Model 1: Fresh start – a blank slate and Model 2: Upgrading the existing management system.

For organizations unfamiliar with OEMS, the preferred model tends to be Model 1. Large homogenous and nonhomogenous organizations may often seek to apply Model 2. In this chapter, the authors explore each of these models and the respective major activities involved.
