ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the logically formulate various policies for a sleep-laboratory. Sleep laboratory must be established in a calm and quiet place in the hospital. Furniture required for the sleep lab. Must have an attached washroom for sleep technologists. Intercom between the sleep laboratory and monitoring room. Intercom with amplifier connected to sleep laboratory. Sleep laboratory is fairly a busy place with lot of equipments and infrastructure. Hence, the responsibilities must be divided among the staff members. Supervise the training programs of the sleep-technologists/sleep physicians/short-term trainee. Sleep study is an elective procedure; hence, patients may be scheduled depending upon the number of beds in the facility and patient load. Audio and video signals from the sleep lab are to be kept turned-on during the whole study. The sleep lab should be sufficiently dark and quiet to promote sleep. Report should be provided to the patient within a week of the sleep study.
