ABSTRACT

The second year of college is a time for building on and cementing the knowledge and experience students started to gain through the first year. It is also a time when, ideally, having overcome the trials and tribulations of Year One, students really start digging more deeply into their main subject areas and come to understand how little they have learned so far. This chapter provides an extensive discussion of what courses generally become available during the second year, whether for artists, designers, or engineers. In this discussion, the many typical second-year courses in the various disciplines are presented, and an explanation of what each course covers is given. This is done to help students decide on the path they will follow to get their degree.
