ABSTRACT
Conveyor belt is the most important and costliest part of the belt conveyor. Since the conveyor belt is the most vulnerable part of the conveyor, the selection of the conveyor belt must be made with meticulous care. The conveyor belt works as a tractive component as well as load-carrying component in belt conveyor. It may be used for transportation of different kinds of material at a higher speed. Cotton fibre reinforcement for carcasses and natural rubber for covers were used in the past for conveyor belt. A broad range of cotton and synthetic fibres for carcass, synthetic rubbers, polymers and elastomers for top and bottom covers have been developed to increase the service life and to extend the operational range of the conveyor belt. The plain weave is the basic woven fabric structure and is very widely used. It forms the basis for the development of the more complicated interlacing patterns used in weaving.
