ABSTRACT

The justification of the reliability of decisions when designing concrete dams is made using engineering calculations, experimental and numerical studies of the stress-strain state (SSS) of the “reservoir-dam-foundation” system, hydraulic, filtration, and temperature conditions in construction and operation. Distinguish between static and dynamic problems of mechanics of a solid deformable body. Static tasks are considered in cases when the body under the influence of external loads that do not change in time is at rest, or in cases where the changes in external loads in time occur slowly enough so that at any moment in time it would be possible to consider the static state of the body. Theory of elasticity is the simplest and at the same time the main branch of mechanics of a solid deformable body. The theory of plasticity is an important branch of the mechanics of a solid deformable body.
