ABSTRACT

As safety is the most important issue in the mining industry, all devices installed in mine workings have to be thoroughly tested in terms of their safety. The retractable guidance system has to provide safety of the conveyance at the similar level as stiff guidance that was previously installed at the 960 m level in the Leon IV shaft of the Rydułtowy coal mine. Thus, numerous different tests were conducted. This chapter presents measurements of forces acting on guidance, both still and retractable, at the 960 m level, stress in conveyance’s elements, its comparison and analysis of compliance of the retractable guidance system with existing law and Polish standards.
