ABSTRACT

Fish and shellfish are the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids. They are described in detail here. But this gift from the sea does not come without some concerns: Some fish are relatively high in mercury, and some shellfish may be contaminated with human waste while others are high in toxic substances. There are, however, ways of avoiding these hazards, and we guide the reader to methods of preparation and to vendors from whom one can purchase seafood and shellfish products that are safe.
