ABSTRACT

Objective/Research Question: The Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Breast Screening (MARIBS) study was designed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (CE MRI) in women at high risk of breast cancer as a result of either a known pathogenic gene mutation or a strong family history. These women are at elevated breast cancer risk, and standard screening with mammography is less effective in younger women due to increased breast density. CE MRI was proposed as a surveillance modality as it has enhanced sensitivity in younger women, on whom this study focussed.
