ABSTRACT

The most important step when implanting a drug-eluting stent is to be able to get the stent to the lesion. Stenting with DES is not only performed to improve the immediate result or to cover a dissection, it is mainly performed in order to avoid restenosis. This means that the stent is a therapeutic option in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and each lesion dilated needs to be stented (slide 2).
