ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION The focus of this chapter is an analysis of the interaction of coronary and peripheral atherosclerosis and left ventricular (LV) structure, specifically, LV hypertrophy (LVH). This includes factors related to coronary blood flow (CBF) and the consequences of LVH in patients with coronary artery disease. We will not cover the consequences of inadequate coronary flow per se, such as LV wall motion abnormalities, or morphologic changes such as ventricular aneurysm formation secondary to myocardial infarction.
