ABSTRACT

The patient is a 48-year-old right-handed man with a history of atypical nocturnal behaviors. There was a vague history that as a child he had episodes during sleep that were similar to the recent episodes witnessed by his wife. The frequency and the intensity of these events had increased over the past 5 years. He had been evaluated by six neurologists, including two epileptologists, and had undergone two video-EEG monitoring studies and three admissions to sleep disorder centers for polysomnography. Various diagnoses were made, the most common of which was conversion disorder with non-epileptic seizures.
