Plain x-rays Of very limited value. Skull x-rays are of no value other than in trauma. Plain x-rays of the spine are usually abnormal in individuals over the age of 50.
CT scanning A very valuable investigation which can be performed rapidly. Liable to abuse however. The vast majority of patients with headache don’t need one. Restricted access for many general practitioners.
