ABSTRACT
Most tongue carcinomas are squamous lesions. Over half of all such lesions affect the anterior tongue and of these, 85% occur along the lateral border. Most patients are elderly, although a cohort have their primary lesions in the third decade. The latter group have a poor prognosis.
