ABSTRACT
In maxillofacial surgery, the need for techniques to replace or reconstruct tissues lost in trauma, by disease or after surgical excision is common. Implants are one useful method of providing firm support for prosthetic tissue replacement and for retention of surgical devices such as hearing aids. Proprietary intra-oral and extra-oral implant systems are available.
