Stone composition The majority of urinary stones in the western world are composed of calcium in combination with oxalate (70-80%), phosphate (5-10%), uric acid and struvite (magnesium ammonium phosphate) accounting for 5-10% each and rare amino acid (cysteine, xantheine) or drug therapy (indinavir, triamterine) stones the remainder.
