ABSTRACT

Introduction Testicular germ cell tumours are relatively rare. Approximately two to three new cases per 100000 males are diagnosed each year and most occur during the second and third decade. It also takes on a greater significance than numbers alone might suggest as it is one of the few solid cancers which is curable in the majority of cases, even when it has metastasized, with a crude overall 5-year survival rate in the UK of 90%.
