ABSTRACT

Varicocele is by definition an abnormal tortuous dilatation of the pampiniform plexus. Triple source of testicular arterial supply (spermatic, vasal and cremasteric arteries) is drained with a highly communicating network of veins which also function as a heat exchange mechanism to keep the testicular temperature 1-2°C below the body temperature. Pampiniform plexus drains into inferior vena cava on the right side and left renal vein on the left. Cross communications between left and right pampiniform systems has also been demonstrated.
