ABSTRACT

Editors cannot hope to be expert on every topic submitted for publication. They therefore maintain a panel of experts to guide them. They usually select two (sometimes three) whom they believe can provide an expert opinion on your paper. This is known as ‘Peer Review,’ implying that you and they are equally expert. The editor may pass on the comments of these referees as a précis or verbatim: either way, the author(s) must respond appropriately.
