ABSTRACT
Microbial keratitis is a sight-threatening disease and therefore represents an ophthalmic emergency. A delay in diagnosis and therapy has been estimated to reduce favourable visual outcome to 50% of affected eyes. Management protocols and guidelines for microbial keratitis have been published recently in an effort to rationalize treatment.
