ABSTRACT
In a controlled trial an outcome measure can be any clinical or economic variable relevant to the research question that may be affected by the intervention. Outcome measures are usually divided into primary and secondary. Sometimes secondary outcome measures are further divided into clinical and health economic outcomes.
