ABSTRACT

O. turbata is a Gram-positive, Nocardia-like rod that produces branched filaments which fragment into motile rods. Oerskovia are soil inhabitants which produce yellow colonies on sheep blood agar. Although they rarely cause human infections, episodes of bacteremia occurred in a 3-year-old boy who had an indwelling Broviac catheter and who had a history of camping outdoors. Bacterial endocarditis in a patient who underwent a homograft replacement of his aortic valve has also been reported.
