ABSTRACT

I.B.SNEDDON was born in Sheffield on March 6, 1915 and lived there for most of his life. His father, William, was a Scottish general practitioner who died when Ian was still a schoolboy. After graduating from the University of Sheffield he became House Physician and lost his heart to dermatology. The onset of the Second World War called him up for naval service in the Pacific. It was sailing in dinghies in Sydney Harbor that grew into a lifetime passion, a highly prized yacht master certificate and sailing his 10-tonner to and from France. Fly-fishing and painting rounded out his extra-dermatological talents.
