ABSTRACT
RONA MCLEOD MACKIE was born in Dundee, Scotland on May 22, 1946. After receiving her medical education at the University of Glasgow, she rose through the ranks to become Professor and Head of the Department of Dermatology. This was a singular honor, since she was the first woman ever to chair any department in the history of Glasgow University. Under her guidance, the Department gained international prominence, attracting postgraduate students from around the world.
