ABSTRACT

ALFRED GOLDSCHEIDER was born August 4, 1858, in Sommerfeld (near Frankfurt). The son of a physician, he was educated at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Institute in Berlin, and graduating in 1881, embarked on a military medical career. After a preliminary period in provincial garrisons, during which time he described the case of epidermolysis bullosa we have included here, he returned to Berlin and worked at Leyden’s Clinic. He later held posts at the Moabit and Virchow hospitals in Berlin, and in 1910 took over the Poly clinic University Institute; he remained connected with this institution until his death in 1935.
