ABSTRACT

AUGUST BREISKY was born at Klattau, in Bohemia, March 25, 1832. He pursued his medical studies at Prague, and took his degree at the age of 23. After serving as an assistant in pathological anatomy for a time, he became associated with Professor Seyffert’s obstetrical clinic where he qualified in that specialty. Breisky was called to the Chair of Obstetrics in Salzburg in 1866, and a year later to Berne where he remained seven years. He then returned to Prague, and on the death of Professor Spaeth took over at the University of Vienna, which post he occupied until his death in 1889.
