ABSTRACT

LUCA STULLI was born in Ragusa, September 22, 1772. He was educated at the Collegium in Piaristen, and at the age of 20 began at the University in Bologna, where he devoted himself to the medical sciences under Uttini, Mondini, and Galvani. He was graduated in 1795, and soon afterwards found it necessary to leave Bologna for political reasons. In Florence he came under the influence of the eminent naturalist, Felix Fontana, and maintained an active interest in this field for the rest of his life. After practice in Rome and Naples he returned to his fatherland, Dalmatia, where he died suddenly from a stroke in September, 1828.
