ABSTRACT

JOHN TEMPLETON BOWEN was born in Boston, July 8, 1857. He attended the Boston Latin School, was graduated from Harvard University in 1879, and took his M.D. at the latter institution in 1884. After three years study abroad, in Berlin, Munich, and Vienna, he returned to the United States and began practice in Boston. An assistant physician at the Massachusetts General Hospital in 1889, he became an instructor in dermatology at Harvard in 1896, and in 1902, with the retirement of James C.White, he was appointed assistant professor. He became the first Edward Wigglesworth Professor of Dermatology in 1907.
