ABSTRACT
The characteristic appearances of the polycystic ovary are variable and may be subtle. Ultrasonographers are trained to assess the presence of significant pelvic pathology (e.g. large ovarian cysts, endometriomata), and may not appreciate the finer characteristics of polycystic ovaries or multicystic ovaries.
