ABSTRACT
Classic allergic reactions to gloves occur as immunologic contact urticaria (ICU) to latex proteins and as allergic contact dermatitis to the major rubber accelerators and antioxidants. Among the easiest adverse reactions to document,1 they are a particular problem for people whose occupations demand that they wear gloves. Less commonly reported glove reactions also occur. This chapter discusses those other reactions, both irritant and allergic. Glove reactions are classified in Table 15.1.
