ABSTRACT

The management of psoriasis depends on the individual who is the patient. Only a small proportion of patients suffering from psoriasis present with symptoms requiring treatment, e.g. irritation in a small proportion; painful fissures, where there is involvement of the palms and soles and in the intertriginous areas; loss of mobility of the hands and feet with involvement at these sites; and systemic complications in erythrodermic and generalized pustular psoriasis. The main reason that patients seek treatment is because the disease is unsightly and therefore limits their social behavior.
