ABSTRACT
Although the liver is a major site of lipid metabolism, little fat is normally stored there. The abnormal accumulation of fat in the liver is manifest microscopically as visible globules of intracellular lipid, and macroscopically by changes in the visual appearance of the liver. These are also detectable by imaging using sonography, CT or MRI.
