ABSTRACT
It has long been hoped that a definitive classification system for headaches might aid diagnosis, standardize and improve headache research, and lead to more rational treatments. However, our incomplete understanding of the fundamental nature of the primary headaches has hindered attempts to achieve this aim. Above all, the lack of biological markers for different forms of headache continues to cause controversy and frustrate progress.
