ABSTRACT

Since the advent of arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery, surgeons have been repairing larger and larger tears arthroscopically. Arthroscopic repair of massive rotator cuff tears (tear diameter greater than 5 cm) has been associated with results comparable to massive tears treated by open methods (1). In addition, arthroscopic repair of large or massive rotator cuff tears preserves the deltoid with less morbidity than an open approach (2,3).
