ABSTRACT

Why a chapter on craniomaxillofacial prosthetics in a textbook dedicated to surgical

procedures? Because, in spite of great advances in the surgical reconstruction of patients

with craniomaxillofacial deformities, there are still many patients and particular facial defects

which are better suited for prosthetic reconstruction. The ability to identify those patients and

deformities early in the decision-making process will ultimately benefit both the patient and

surgeon.
