ABSTRACT

Since Parodi demonstrated the feasibility of endovascular repair, endovascular aneurysm repair

(EVAR) has emerged as the gold standard for aneurysm repair. In North America, more patients

undergo EVAR than open surgery. Although the results of theDutch Randomized Endovascular

AneurysmManagement trial and EVAR I and II trials have raised controversy regarding longer

term results when compared to conventional repair, most advocates of stent-grafting have

continued to expand the indications for the use of endovascular technology. This chapter

describes the technical aspects of EVAR, including tips and tricks for trouble shooting problems.

Recent advances regarding fenestrated and branched stent grafts are described elsewhere.
