ABSTRACT
Varicose veins are extremely common, though only a minority seek treatment, either for
cosmetic reasons or related symptoms. Despite this varicose veins represent a significant
financial burden on health services and the largest single cause of medicolegal claims against
surgeons (1,2). Patient satisfaction, with both symptom relief and cosmetic result, is essential.
