ABSTRACT
The highly infl ammatory and destructive “folliculitis decalvans” pattern of CCCA commonly eventuates in follicular tufting (10,11). If the clinical pattern of hair loss is that of a slowly progressive cicatricial alopecia centered on or near the posterior vertex (hair whorl zone), then CCCA is the most likely culprit.
