ABSTRACT

SPECIFIC SIGNS OF LP Pterygium Pterygium is due to the infl ammation of the nail matrix and remains adherent to the ventral surface of the nail plate, resulting in a subungual extension of the hyponychium and obliteration of the distal groove. Pterygium is rather rare (<5%) and it usually affects only one nail. It is not related to the duration of the disease (Fig. 5.1).
