Meaning of sustainable development There is considerable debate about the precise definition of sustainable development. It should also be noted that several levels of sustainability may be considered. At the widest level, sustainability of world economic development embraces those planet-threatening issues of global warming, resource depletion and ozone loss. Sustainability can also be considered at a national economy level, at a local level and at an individual leisure or tourism project level.
