ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines the key legislative provisions which govern the control of building work in England and Wales. No attempt has been made to deal with the building control systems in Scotland and Northern Ireland, for although the regulations throughout the UK are all based on the same fundamental principles, there are subtle differences in form and content, and major differences in the way the regulations are administered between the different countries.
