ABSTRACT
Brick is the oldest manufactured building material. The history of its use gives many examples of the way techniques of manufacture and laying have responded to opportunities created by different cultures, so innovation has become a key feature in the development of the material. Today the industry is faced with a number of challenges which require innovative approaches if they are to be met successfully.
