ABSTRACT
Having lived and worked abroad for more than two decades myself, I feel very strongly about the strategic need to transcend culture and to focus as quickly as possible instead on the informal learning process of strategic thinking. This does not mean ignoring culture; it means acknowledging and appreciating it within the larger learning context. The intent of strategic development is to increase the capacity for learning to think strategically, and culture is just one, albeit a significant, piece.
