The preparation of the material to be applied prior to its application is an important consideration, to enable painting and decoration work to be carried out to a standard acceptable to industry and its clientele. Materials that need consideration are:
paints, water, oil and spirit based paints
stoppers and fillers such as mastics, putties and ready mixed types
wallpaper adhesives
wall and ceiling hangings before use
abrasive products
thinners and solvents.
