ABSTRACT
If two coils A and B have mutual inductance M henrys, the e.m.f. in coil A due to current change in coil B is
eA = M × rate of change of current in coil B
Thus, if the current in coil B has values I1 and I2 at instants of time t1 and t2,
e = M × I2 − I1 t2 − t1 volts
EXAMPLE 1 Two coils have mutual inductance 3H. If the current through one coil changes from 0.1A to 0.4A in 0.15s, calculate the e.m.f. induced in the other coil.
