ABSTRACT

Keeping the process on track is one of the biggest challenges in Return on Investment (ROI) process implementation. Implementing the ROI process and monitoring its progress within the realm of the workplace learning and performance function may be a relatively simple task. ROI Methodology data are being integrated to create a macro scorecard for the learning and development function. A variety of data collection methods are used in ROI analysis. ROI evaluation is not restricted to a particular type of data collection method, such as monitoring of business data. ROI evaluation targets are developed, showing the percent of programs evaluated at each level. ROI forecasting is being implemented routinely. Senior executives are sometimes asking for a forecast of ROI before a project begins. Emphasizing the ROI Methodology as a long-term process-improvement tool adds tremendous value and keeps it from becoming a passing fad or short-term phenomenon.
