ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the governance structures of nonprofit sport organizations and the related issues for those people working and volunteering in sport. This chapter comprises three parts. First, a description of the elements that comprise the governance structure of nonprofit sport organizations is provided including several examples. Second, the issues related to nonprofit sport organization governance structures are discussed. The final part of the chapter reviews attempts to categorize and analyse the governance structures of nonprofit sport organizations from the perspectives of organizational theory, governance models and inter-organizational relationships (IORs).
